TAROT CARD READING
Do “tarot card readings” may make you feel nervous or anxious? Tarot readings are a powerful form of divination that can actually tell you a lot about yourself, your past and of course, your future. Plus, there are different types of card decks and readings if you are looking to focus in on a specific topic or aspect of your life.
In this article, we will go into these different types of tarot card readings, its history, and how a tarot card reading can help you gain answers and clarity.
The History of Tarot Card Reading
First developed in the 14th century, tarot cards were originally created as games, and were thought to have been brought to Europe and other western countries via way of Egypt. It was only in the 18th century that tarot cards began to be used for divination purposes, with special decks being created for the occult.
Each tarot deck was made up of two distinct parts: the Major and Minor Arcana. Arcana means ‘secrets’, and cartomancers used these two parts to uncover secrets about participating individuals.
The Major Arcana (greater secrets) consisted of 22 cards with no suits and included cards such as The Magician, The Lovers, The Moon and The Fool. The only unnumbered card was The Fool, whereas the others were numbered from I to XXI in Roman numerals.
The Minor Arcana (lesser secrets) consisted of 56 cards, divided into four suits of 14 cards each. In each of the suits were ten numbered cards, and four court cards. The four court cards included the King, Queen, Knight and Jack, similar to normal playing cards.
Nowadays however, many tarot card decks contain primarily artwork, and exclusively contain the 22 Major Arcana, with no numeral cards in the deck.
Types of Tarot Card Readings
Tarot cards can be used for many different areas of your life, such as understanding yourself better, finding clarity in your life and relationships, and even for finding inner guidance and peace.
Contrary to popular belief, they are not used for seeing into the future! However, a reading can be done to help reveal potential alternatives for the future. Using the reading, you can help to avoid potential misfortune, or to align yourself more with your dreams.
There are six common used types of tarot spreads:
- Love
- Success
- Celtic Cross
- Spiritual
- Career Path
- Three Card
Each spread has their own unique focal point and your chosen psychic will know how to read them according to those specifics, in order to give you an accurate reading. You can get in touch with us at Crystal Clear Psychics to see which tarot spread is most suited to you and your needs.
Hopefully now after reading this article you feel more at ease with tarot cards and are open to finding out more about yourself through them. Remember, that even if you get the Death card in a tarot spread, it does not necessarily have a literal meaning. It could mean an ending of one situation or relationship, and an increase in your own self-awareness.
